Welcome

With this BLOG I intend to bring everyone into the day to day life of Ben. Take a walk in my shoes, or next to them.
I am a full-time student with a part-time job and a full-time life.
Experience what I see and maybe you will find that life can be quite...ordinary.

Cyber Monday

Yeah its that time of year again. The time when we start to think of others, and how MUCH we value them. I could make this post about the commercialization of the holidays, but I wont.

Black Friday is traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year. Stores open to hoards of crowds that have been standing in a line all night long just waiting to have a chance at massive savings. Well I hate it.

I've never participated in Black Friday before, and don't plan too. I'm not a morning person so the idea of getting up early just to stand in line outside, and inside and at the cash register is insane. But thanks to Amazon I can get all my holiday shopping done from the comfort of my own home.

Amazon is awesome. No waiting in lines no hoards of people to deal with, and it comes straight to my front door. Okay I'm not trying to make is seem like Amazon.com is the best place to shop or anything all I'm saying is that it beats dealing with everyone else in the Holiday rush.

Sweet Home Chicago

This years Thanksgiving will be spent in the home off Deep Dish, Chicago Illinois, to visit my wife's family. I have never been a big fan of the windy city and my wife since she grew up and spent most of her life there is making it her goal to get me to like her home town. So every time we go to Chicago she makes plans to introduce me to some famous aspect of the city. This time we went to Giordanos Pizza in Naperville IL.
There is actually a common misconception with what a Chicago style pizza really is.There are basicly two types of pizza, you have a Stuffed pizza and Deep dish. Now when most people think of Chicago style pizza, they think of Deep Dish pizza. But it is actually stuffed pizza. If you order Deep dish you will get a pizza that is just cooked in a deep dish. But Stuffed pizza is a thin crust with a layer of toppings (ours was Sausage) and cheese, with the sauce on top.
The pizza was good, not the best I've had but pretty good. The sausage had a little spice and the sauce was sweet. This biggest issue I had with it is was that the crust was undercooked, in my opinion. See I'm more partial to the thin crust pizza that crunch when you bite into it, that is a pizza. This was a pie.

But feel free to check out Giordanos website.

Turkey Bowl

We play. Neither rain nor sleet nor wind nor snow, will stop us. This is the gang, well part of them. Each year my friends I've known for most my life, and I get together and have our annual Thanksgiving football game.

The past two years, have been quite the game due to the wonderfully unpredictable Utah weather. You know the old saying, if you don't like the weather in Utah, just wait a few hours cause it'll change.

And as you can see last Saturday was one of those beautiful fall football days. With the snow falling and the wind blowing we took to the field, divided into teams and had ourselves a wonderful time.

Once we started playing we all forgot the wind blowing on our faces or how wet we were getting from the snow and sleet. We just enjoyed playing a fun game of football as friends.

This marks the second year in a row where snow or shine we play. Last year we played on Thanksgiving Day, with 4 in of snow.

Happy Halloween

My favorite show of all time is Seinfeld. Yeah I know its an old classic but to this day you can still learn everything you need to from Seinfeld. It's one of the few shows I can watch over and over again and still not get sick of it. So in honor of it I decided to go as Jerry and my wife went as Elaine for Halloween.

I've been growing my hair out since August in preparation for it. I had the long 90's mullet going and puffed my hair up. We found a nice wool sweater at the local DI, and an excellent early 90's floral pattern dress for Elaine. Not to bad if I do say so my self.

Meet the Family

Well what better way to start off this blog than to introduce everyone to my family.

My wife, Lizz, and I have been married for two years this Oct. Originally she is from Orland Park, Illinois and we met attending Utah Valley University our freshman year. She graduated from UVU and now works in PR. Currently she is working for a Presidential Candidate doing Press and Media Relations as well as operating Social Media.

After being together for 5 years and married for 2, we decided we wanted to start our family. With me being a full-time student and Lizz working we decided the best way to begin our family was to adopt, a Cat. Her name is Veronica, my wife named her after Veronica Mars. I've never been a cat person, I prefer dogs, but she might just change my opinion because she thinks she is a dog.

If I didn't know better I might think that we came home from the shelter with a dog that looks like a cat. Her favorite game is fetch, she loves to drink out of the toilet and I can't sit down to a single meal without her nose all up in my plate.

This is my family.

What is this blog?

What is this blog. Well it is simply stated a personal blog. It will follow Ben, that's me, throughout his normal life, while focusing mainly on interactions with family and friends. I will post photos and videos of different exciting, well hopefully, things that happen in a typical day in the life of Ben.
I know, your probably saying not another Personal Journal Blog. Well yes it is. But hopefully there will be things that I post that you might not otherwise experience. I'll try to find and post things that are not always typical or ordinary to the public. But don't hate me if it is just as you thought it might be, another person rambling about nothing too exciting or interesting. And I promise not to fill this Blog with pointless dribble on what i had for breakfast yesterday, isn't that what facebook is for?

Thanks for stopping by
